For many years the debate over LCD and Plasma TVs has raged on, and now we have another technology to add to the mix — LED. All three types have their pros and cons and the ideal TV is really what works best for you. To familiarize those who are less familiar with LEDs, we decided to do this Sharp LC40LE830U review. Generally, people turn to LEDs because they want a picture quality closer to a plasma. Also many don’t want to pay a higher price, and they are concerned with things like efficiency, glare, and burnout. If you think a LED might fit your needs then check out our Sharp LC40LE830U review.

What We Liked
- Picture Quality – The Quattron technology truly provide a fantastic viewing experience. The colors really pop and the picture is more crisp and rich as compared to similarly priced TVs. The enhanced colors and the extra yellow give it a very realistic effect.
- Customization – Although we thought the picture looked great right out of the box, for those who feel that the colors are too saturated or “too real”, the TV provides many adjustable settings (at least 30 – 40 subheadings). Its interface is really easy to use, so just play around with the different options and features until you find your ideal setup.
- Network Setup – Unlike many wireless devices, the Sharp LC40LE830U Quattron has no problems recognizing your home network. Generally, it doesn’t require any configuration and will let you know if there are any available software updates.
- Black Levels - For some, the mark of a good TV is the deepness of its blacks, and the Sharp LC40LE830U Quattron has some of the truest blacks that we have seen among any LED or LCD TVs.
- 120 Hz Fine Motion - Many LED TVs have a blurring effect during sports or action scenes. Sharp’s Fine Motion technology counteracts this by having faster refresh rates which makes all motion seem much smoother. Although it might not appear as natural as a plasma, it is not as noticeable as other TVs.
- Appearance - The 40″ Sharp Quattron is thin, streamlined, and the ideal size for a wall mount. The bottom has sleek, silver edges with a lit Sharp logo in the middle. It definitely looks state of the art and is something to show off to your friends.
What We Didn’t Like
- Angled Viewing - Most LED TVs have some issues with angled viewing, and comparatively the Sharp LC40LE830U Quattron isn’t bad, but you might have some issues if you plan on watching from an angle greater than 45 degrees.
- Remote - Maybe we’re being a little nitpicky, but the remote seems rather outdated compared to the TV. Most of it isn’t backlit (no glow-in-the-dark buttons either), and the menu button is in kind of an awkward position. It’s usable, but not exactly impressive.
Summary
Overall, this is a top-notch TV. It is a little more expensive than some of the others we have reviewed, but it is loaded with features and has one of the best picture qualities of any HDTV. There will always be some debate about whether LCD, LED, or Plasmas are better. For those who want something lightweight, energy efficient, bright, and with no glare issues, the 40″ Sharp Quattron is a great choice. Click Here To Buy The Sharp LC40LE830U

Wow! You are awesome! I was looking for something just like this. I was trying to figure out what is better. I was told LED’s are the best or even LCD’s. It has been a confusing world for me lately. I hate shopping because I like to have the best so it takes me weeks to decide what is good for me. My DISH co-worker is actually the one that told me to look into getting a Sharp because they check everything out and they love theirs. I’m really excited to see it in the store and decide. I think I will go with the Sharp. You know you have to have the best with the best. Since I have DISH and I’m getting HD free for life with them I know I’m getting the best. I’m really excited that your review might have done it for me!
